Studying at the Institute of China and Asia Pacific Studies at NSYSU was the best decision I could have made. It gave me the analytical skills and regional insights I use every day in my work. My research on Taiwan and Asia more in general began here, and NSYSU continues to shape my career—each year, I return to Taiwan for fieldwork and cherish the chance to reconnect with my professors at NSYSU. Winning the Global Taiwan Chair project and publishing my latest book “Contemporary Taiwan: More than a Flashpoint” (Routledge, 2025) are both direct results of the opportunities and knowledge I received at NSYSU. My time there not only helped me grow as a scholar but also fueled a lasting connection with Taiwan and its academic community.
